Mlynarčík, Štefan ; Mrva, Jozef (referee) ; Rathouský, Luděk (advisor)
Objectivity and neutrality of current makers of online maps is hampered by the fact that the most important of them who form the public opinion are largely commercial giants. Sensitivity of approaches is desirable especially in specific situations involving territorial disputes. The textual part of the thesis brings theoretical insights to the problematics of map makers policies and their preservation or violation. At the same time is describes critical cartography as a current opposition against governmental and cooperative mapping, of which counter-mapping processes are regularly used in art, too. Practical outcome attempts to reflect specific approaches of map makers depending on particular territorial disputes. It takes place mostly in online environment, using the functions of Google Street View or Google Earth and forms of counter-mapping on the OSM platform. The goal is to bring alternative realities complicating map makers policies and governing apparatus to map projects with the international coverage.

User rights defined by SELinux technology in Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system
Implementation of the ecosystem services framework into policy and decision-making
Daněk, Jan ; Vačkářová, Davina Elena (advisor) ; Mederly, Peter (referee) ; Schneider, Jiří (referee)
The ecosystem services (ES) framework enables a better understanding of the benefits of nature to people and society. Thus it can help to inform decision-making and promote a more sustainable use of nature and landscape. Although the number of scientific publications on ES is steadily increasing, the actual application of ES knowledge in policy, decision-making and practice by actors is still very limited. The dissertation examines through several sub-studies whether and how the ES framework is already implemented in policies and in the real decision-making practice of various actors in the Czech Republic, and what the possibilities are of using this framework. The methods used include policy content analysis, semi-structured interviews, participatory workshops, focus groups, questionnaire survey with participatory mapping and a systematic literature review. The individual studies are then embedded in a conceptual framework of impact assessment for policy and decision-making. The results show that although the ES framework is relatively abundant in key national environmental policies, its application in decision-making is minimal. The identified gap between the existing level of implementation in policies and the very limited use in decision-making and practice can be explained by a number of...
The implications of China’s aging population to the nation and the world
Lashkova, Ekaterina
Population changes have been identified as among the global challenges in recent decades. While advanced economies have experienced an ageing population, underdeveloped economies have witnessed a surge in the birth rate. Arguably, this issue has been a Chinese issue since the second half of the twentieth century. Against this backdrop, this bachelor thesis tries to assess the dynamics and implications of the size and age structure of the Chinese population within the country and the World. Secondary data was obtained from reputable sources for the analysis. Using a descriptive approach, the findings show that China's ageing population brings opportunities and difficulties for the country and the rest of the world. There are chances for innovation and growth in industries like elder care and technology, although there are enormous economic and societal challenges, such as a diminishing workforce and growing healthcare expenditures. The demographic trends in China also affect the rest of the world, especially in East Asia, where ageing populations are a common worry. Ultimately, this thesis helps us better comprehend how China's ageing population affects the country and the rest of the world. It emphasizes the requirement for legislative actions to address the problems and seize the changes by demographic shifts.

Europeanisation of gender equality in Eastern European countries: the case of Slovakia and Slovenia
Petrechová, Sára ; Váška, Jan (advisor) ; Menclová, Barbora (referee)
Gender equality has long been declared as one of the European Union's (EU) core values and priorities, and its importance is still emphasised today. EU Member States are expected to participate in and take action to promote gender equality. This thesis focuses on the analysis of the process of Europeanisation of gender equality agenda in two Central and Eastern European (CEE) member states, namely Slovenia and Slovakia. Slovenia has long been at the top of surveys on the state of gender equality. Slovenia is more active and successful in promoting and supporting gender equality compared to other EU Member States in the region, while Slovakia is at the other end of the ranking, facing stagnation and lack of progress in this area. The theoretical framework of the thesis is based on the new institutionalism, which allows to analyse the impact of institutions and institutional changes at the national level on the process of Europeanisation of gender policy. At the analytical level, the thesis applies a three-level framework of polity, politics, and policy, which examines institutional arrangements, political parties and their approach to gender equality, and legislative changes related to gender equality in both countries. The aim of the thesis is to identify factors that positively or negatively...
